Toronto International Boat Show Report
The Toronto International Boat Show got off to a solid start this past weekend; cold January weather in Toronto was a good excuse for many to spend the weekend with family at the Boat Show. While the numbers at the turnstiles were down slightly from 2009, booths were busy and vendors are reporting good sales and much improved interest from potential boat buyers.
As in previous years, the Toronto International Boat Show caters to everyone, whether you are cottager shopping for a new family ski boat, an avid angler hoping to acquire a faster bass boat or a retired couple who considers cruising the Trent-Severn Waterway, the show has a vessel to suit your taste. The show floor also includes marinas, yacht clubs and insurance brokers among other service providers; while the Market Place area provides an opportunity to outfit your boat with all the necessary gear, whether it's new electronics, safety equipment or foul weather clothing. Kids will also enjoy the largest indoor lake, complete with wakeboarding demonstrations and Duma, the waterskiing Jack Russell Terrier.
On the international scene, the Clipper Round the World Race fleet is halfway to Singapore and Spirit of Australia was first to the scoring gate this past weekend. Stay tuned for many crew members' reports over the next few days.
Our attention will be shifting to Florida over the next few weeks; keep an eye for our reports from Key West!
