 ALL Albacore Sailors – You are Invited to LSSA 2012 June 23 & 24, 2012 at Mississauga SC



 
All Albacore sailors are invited to the 116th running of the LSSA Regatta which began in 1893 and is now one of Ontario’s largest multi-class regattas. 
The Albacores will be racing on the Double-Handed Race Course. This is a great way to get the Albacore Class noticed among young upcoming dinghy sailors 
who will be looking for their next choice of boat ownership in the years ahead.

2012 - 116 th L.S.S.A - Lake Sailing Skiff Association Regatta

INVITATION:
The Mississauga Club and the L.S.S.A (Lake Sailing Skiff Association) invite Albacores. Bytes / CIIs, CL
14/16s, Club 420s / 420s, 49ers, International 14s, Laser, Laser Radials, Mirrors, Optimist, Snipes, Sunfish, 29ers and Wayfarers dinghy sailors to the 2012 LSSA Regatta, to be held from Sat., June 23 to Sun, June 24, 2012 in Mississauga, ON,.
VENUE:
The 2012 LSSA Regatta will be hosted from the Mississauga Sailing Club. Racing will be south of the Club on Lake Ontario. The MSC is located at 120 Lakefront Promenade, Mississauga, ON, L5E 3G9. There are ramps and docks at this location to launch dinghies.

RULES:
 
This regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing. The prescriptions of the Canadian National Authority, CYA, will apply. ELIGIBILITY:
 
The 2012 L.S.S.A. Regatta is open to all Albacores. Byte / CII, CL 14/16, Club 420 / 420, 49er, International 14, Laser, Laser Radial, Mirror, Optimist, Snipe, Sunfish, 29er and Wayfarer sailors. Competitors must be members in good standing of their respective Class Associations, must meet all ownership, class membership and boat measurement requirements and must have paid all event fees before their entry is accepted and they can begin official competition.

The Organizing Authority must receive the completed Entry Form and payment of the Entry Fee.

Cheques are to be made payable to the "Mississauga Sailing Club” Please Note “LSSA 2012 Regatta”.
Entry Fees Include: Registration package, boat storage during the event, racing, awards, Saturday Night Dinner, presentation of Class promotional information, as well as other items to be announced.
 
Not Included:
•Lunches. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH EACH DAY – None will be provided at MSC. .
•Parking - There is a No fee parking lot opposite the MSC Clubhouse, owned by and subject to the City of Mississauga by-laws. The lot closes at 11 pm. No overnight parking is allowed. Early arrival before 8:30 am is recommended.

INSPECTION & MEASUREMENT:
 
Unless otherwise arranged with the class, participants must have a current measurement certificate at registration. Boats are subject to inspection and/or measurement at any time during the Regatta. No measurement services will be provided by the MSC or LSSA. For Measurement services please contact your Class Measurer prior to the Regatta.
 
COURSE:
 
Three race courses are planned:
Course 1 – Optimist Course - Location – Immediately south of MSC Peninsula 
Course 2 – Single-handed Course – Location – Approx ¾ nautical mile SE of the MSC 
Course 3 – Double-handed Course – Location – Approx ¾ nautical mile SW of the MSC
Each Race Committee will determine the course length as sailing conditions permit, intending that the first dinghy will finish in approximately 40 - 60 minutes. Each Race Committee (RO) reserves the right to;
1.Combine class starts if there are less than 5 entries in each class of boat,
2.Move the Race Course to a safer location - weather permitting,
3.Determine the order of class starts on their Race Course. Watch for Class Signals.
 
PRIZES AND AWARDS:
Awards will be provided for:
1st, 2nd and 3rd place Skippers and Crews, in each Class of Dinghy, Top Female Skipper or Crew or Team in each Class of Dinghy,
Top Club Team (based on registrations),
As well as any other prizes the organizers deem deserved.
