Brendan --
Thanks again for helping with this... good job analyzing past attendance,
etc. Here is my input.
Jazz Cup -- yes
More September/October races -- personally, I'm OK with that period being
light. Traditionally this is the time frame we have gone cruising down to
Socal on our other boat. But, I think we should keep the pumpkin on the
schedule. I'd be OK with another event in early September, more likely to
have consistent, but not brutal breeze in early September. RYC would like
to make the SportBoat Invitational that was our nationals in 2006, be a
regular event in this time-frame. Would the Express Fleet be interested in
adding this if it exists? The downside for me is that RYC will probably
pressure me into working on it again. The club was pretty happy with the
way it turned out. I would consider doing it if the fleet is interested in
it, though... gimme some feedback.
Silver Eagle -no
Spinnaker Cup -- yes, I would like to do more ocean races (though, I
personally have not followed up yet, because of other demands). but, I
would like to make it worth the trip by having a regatta the following
weekend down there. Sailing the expresses on Monterey Bay would be a hoot.
The SF fleet should find a way to spend more time down there. I had the
impression that other folks are interested in doing more ocean races
also...but, the turnout has been light.... what do others really think about
this issue????
MIdnight Moonlight -- ambivalent
Brothers/Sisters -- ambivalent... would like a longer distance race... but,
would do this if it were on the schedule.
Plastic Classic -- ambivalent. I would probably do it if it were on the
schedule, though.
More travelling -- coastwise, yes. Tahoe/Huntington...ambivalent (I've had
my fill of lake sailing in the midwest...jez, my opinion, though)
Nationals/season schedule -- I'm glad this issue has come up, I was going to
propose that we NOT include the Nationals as a part of the season
championship schedule... these should be completely separate championships.
Double-handed races -- ambivalent. But I might give it a try, if they are
on the schedule.... but, I would think they should only be a part of the
long-distance/laid back series.
- More of the races should be counted on the Long Distance schedule
(Vallejo both ways, Great Pumpkin day 2, etc)... not sure what you mean by
this unless you mean ONLY count on the LD series. In which case, yes this
makes sense to me.
-- other LD issues: At the nationals meeting Ralph Deeds described how his
fleet combines bouy races with LD, has separate scoring, but somehow didn't
"split the fleet"... I don't remember the details of how that was done,
though... too many margueritas by then I spose. But, that sounded like the
right solution to me. Maybe you remember what he said?
-- I still think having a separately scored LD/laid back component to our
schedule is a significant draw for lots of folks... different kind of
racing, we should definitely keep this component on the schedule... but
probably with change sketched above.
Thats my nickel's worth...

input
So far I've heard from:
Moxie
Magic Bus
Elise
Peaches
Get Happy!!
Wile E Coyote
New Wave
Races with little support so far include:
Silver Eagle
Spinnaker Cup
Midnight Moonlight
Brothers / Sisters
Plastic Classic
We are working on having the Nationals July 6-8, but that isn't confirmed
yet.
Some comments I've received so far:
- Let's try to get some traveling in: Tahoe, Long Beach,
Huntington
- Consider Jazz cup?
- Should we remove Nationals from the season schedule? As it is
now, sailing Nationals & a couple other weekends results in qualifying for
the season
- More double-handed races?
- More September / October races
- More of the races should be counted on the Long Distance
schedule (Vallejo both ways, Great Pumpkin day 2, etc)
Please get your answers and votes in, and be clear about which races you
aren't interested in at all.
Thanks,

This first mail is just to solicit additional suggestions for the 2007
schedule. Below is a table showing the E27 schedule for the past four years
as well as attendance (only counted starters of at least one race in each
series). Races in bold showed solid attendance of 10 boats or more each
year, and I would expect to have them on the schedule in 2007. Races in
italics show good momentum and are likely candidates for the 2007 schedule.
I will provide dates for all events in the next email.
If there are other races you think the fleet should consider for 2007,
please let me know and I'll add them to the list. Then I'll send an email
out for everyone to respond to which races they'd really like to do.
Thanks,
