[Express27] FW: Express 27 measurement certificates
This is just a reminder to put your boat into class-legal state before the
nationals. Please double-check lifeline tension, minimum gear, etc, and if
your boat is new to the fleet or has been significantly reworked feel free
to make an appointment with me to measure the boat before nationals.
Attached is a spreadsheet available to help you monitor class measurements
on your Express 27. This is also available on the fleet website at the top
of the "rules" page (http://express27.org/e27-measurement.xls)
A plea for help: I could really use some help at the nationals with
weigh-ins and spot-checks on boats (lifelines, minimum gear, etc). If
anyone (owners, crew, family, etc) could help out please let me know!
Thanks
Brendan Busch

Subject: Express 27 measurement certificates
Dear Express 27 owners,
I've condensed the class rules into an Excel measurement certificate. This
makes it easy to see all the required maximums and minimums and required
gear on a condensed two-page form. It is set up so we can perform
measurements of specific parts of the boats and sign off on them over time
if necessary (ie, upon replacement or significant rework of key boat
components). Feel free to keep a copy and update it as you replace or get
the opportunity to measure different parts of your boat. Please let me know
if you have any questions, and also if you find any mistakes.
It is every owner's responsibility to conform to the Express 27 class
regulations while racing in one-design events. You should carefully review
the measurement certificate and ensure your boat is in full compliance.
While not mandating that every yacht has a signed certificate, Will & I are
willing to measure boats and sign off certificates at each owner's request.
Feel free to set up a time to inspect or measure (including weighing) if you
would like to. Otherwise, recognize that we reserve the right to measure
and inspect boats for compliance and boats with violations can be subject to
disqualification.
We will spot check boats at the nationals, and possibly at other events.
Mostly the focus will be lifelines and minimum equipment, but we may make
other measurements.
Sail lofts are responsible for building us class-legal sails and we will go
after violators. We are happy to measure sails from out of the area or upon
request.
Please take responsibility for keeping your own boat class legal and feel
free to send any questions to Will or I (paxsailing at yahoo.com,
brendanb at sfsail.com)
Thanks
Brendan Busch
Get Happy!!
