There will be mandatory fleet social at SFYC on Saturday afternoon May 16. Please plan to enjoy free beers and soft beverages with your fellow racers. If SFYC can be reasonably assured of 60 hungry sailors across all Elite Keel fleets, there will also be BBQ available for a small per person cost. The Knarr fleet has apparently committed to supply 30 of these, let's see what we can do to add to that number. If you're racing, please stick around afterwards! 2. Given that you'll all be down at SFYC for the social get together, you might as well enter your boat in the regatta. This regatta will be a good tune up for the rapidly approaching Nationals, and it would be great to see double digit participation. Get your entries in! Other matters of Fleet Business: 1. Pay your dues ($70 bay area, $10 everybody else). Only 13 SF boats have paid up out of 19 total. The honor roll is on the web site, and we are thinking about adding a List of Shame to highlight the parasites and free riders among us, embarrassingly including me right now, for 2009. I am sending a check to Dan Pruzan today, if you haven't already please do so asap. Our endowment has been crushed in the market of late, and the fleet depends on dues to fund the costs of the newsletter, running the Nationals regatta, season trophies, social get togethers, the perquisites of the office of class pres., etc. 2. We are running into some complications in organizing a feeder ocean race to Santa Cruz ahead of the Nationals regatta (currently scheduled for July 3).
