NOTICE OF RACE
* RULES - This Regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing
(RRS), the Prescriptions of US SAILING, and the Class Rules of the Vanguard
15, except as any of these are altered by the sailing instructions. In the
event of a conflict between the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions,
then the Sailing Instructions shall govern.
* ADVERTISING - The Regatta is classified as a Category A event in
accordance with Appendix 1, Regulation 20 - ISAF Advertising Code.
* REGISTRATION - There will be no advance registration. The
Registration fee is $15 will be paid at the regatta.
* EVENTS
* Three campsites have been reserved by Rolf at the Samuel P. Taylor
State Park for Friday and Saturday night. Take 101 North to Sir Francis
Drake Blvd. West. About 20 minutes from the yacht club.

* $20 entry fee will cover regatta expenses. Campsite fees TBD based
on final number of campers.

SCORING - The regatta will be scored according to the low point scoring
system as described by Appendix A of the RRS. One race will constitute a
regatta. There will be no throwouts.
AWARDS - Awards will be given to the skipper and crew of the top boat.
RACING AREA - Races will be sailed on the west shore of Tomales Bay, off the

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Sailing Instructions and Regatta Organization
a. This regatta will be run by the Vanguard 15 Fleet.
b. Rules
i. The regatta shall be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing
(RRS2001-2004).
ii. Competitors' attention is drawn to: RRS 1B.2
- Fundamental Rules - Life Saving Equipment and Personal Buoyancy: "A boat
shall carry adequate life-saving equipment for all persons on board,
including one item ready for immediate use, unless class rules make some
other provision. Each competitor is individually responsible for wearing
personal buoyancy adequate for the conditions."
2. Entries
a. The entry fee will be $20 and will cover supplies and refreshments.
3. Communication with Competitors
a. Official Notices will be posted on the Official Notice Board at the
Inverness Yacht Club.
b. Any changes in the Sailing Instructions will be posted by 1030 hours
on the day of racing.
c. Questions regarding the Sailing Instructions should be directed to
the Race Committee.
4. Number & Schedule of Races
a. The skipper's meeting will be held on the TISC dock at 10:30 am on
Saturday. The start time of the first race will be announced at that
meeting. As many races as possible will be held.
5. Racing Area
a. The racing area will be near the Inverness Yacht Club pier.
6. The Course
a. For simplicity, the courses and marks shall be the same as for the
Thursday Night Series, windward-leeward courses, either once or twice
around. The starting line will NOT be restricted for this regatta.
b. The course for each race will be announced by the Race Committee on
the committee boat prior to the warning signal.
c. One end of the starting line may be the Inverness YC pier.
7. The Start
Races will be started using the 3-minute starting sequence used for the
Thursday Night Series. Either the electronic "starting box" or simple
whistles may be used.
8. Recalls
a. After the starting signal, the Race Committee may hail the sail
number(s) of the boat(s) identified on the course side of the starting. The
failure of a hail, the failure of a boat to hear the hail or the order of
the hails shall not be grounds for redress. It is the responsibility of the
competitors to start correctly.
b. A new Warning Signal may be sounded immediately after a general
recall.
9. The Finish
a. The finish line will be between the Race Officer stationed on the
committee boat and the finishing pin. The Race Committee has the right to
assign finishing position (s) with no prior signals or announcements.
b. Race sequences shall be started promptly following the finish of the
final competitor of the race prior or the decision of the Race Committee.
10. Protests
a. Protests will not be allowed. Disputes will be settled on shore, in
a manner to be determined by the Race Committee.
11. Scoring
a. The Low Point Scoring System of RRS A2 will apply.
b. One race will constitute a series.
