SF V15ers,
Larchmont YC is hosting the 2008 Nautica Vanguard 15 National Championship
June 13-15. It'd be great if we could have a West Coast turnout -- if for
no other reason than to save Nick Adamson the cost of shipping me the
perpetual trophy.
It should be a great event. June in Larchmont has good breeze -- we've
hosted the New Englands the prior five years during that weekend and have
always had at least one day with planing conditions and double digit races
for the series. Our local fleet is now over 60 boats, so we're well on our
way to our goal of getting 100 boats on the line to make for the largest
Vanguard 15 regatta ever.
Nautica has signed on to be our title sponsor, Heineken has agreed to
provide us with bottomless kegs and Ella Vickers Recycled Sailcloth has
donated sweet duffel bags as trophies (which will also be available for
purchase). Several other sponsors are contributing toward a free raffle on
Sunday after sailing. Throw in free t-shirts, dinner on Saturday, BBQ on
Sunday, breakfast both days and a top notch Race Committee that hosted the
2005 Hinman and the 2000 V15 Nationals and we're in good shape.
We're having a practice day on Friday, June 13 for all of the out-of-towners
who want to get in early, but otherwise racing is just Saturday and Sunday.
We have charter boats and housing available on a first-come, first-serve
basis. More information about all of this (plus the NOR) is available on
the regatta site at http://www.larchmontyc.org/racing/V15National.shtml
If you have any questions, please drop me a line at wpbeardsley [at]

Hope to see some of you at Larchmont in June.
Best,
Peter Beardsley
