Hi Sally,
As most of you know by now, at the close of early registration for the Fall
Dinghy Regatta on October 22, the Vanguard 15 fleet had a total of four
entries, a number which hasn't changed through to today. The Notice of Race
specified that a fleet would need six entries to gain a start, a rule that
is especially important for a Vanguard 15 fleet since it involves setting up
a separate race area. So, unfortunately, the decision is to drop the
Vanguard 15 fleet from the Fall Dinghy Regatta.
The StFYC Rce Office will provide a full refund to those that have
pre-registered. Simply contact Melanie Roberts in the Race Office, by email
at racejradm at stfyc.com or by phone at 415 655 7756.
It is regrettable that this decision has to be made, especially since the
Vanguard 15 Fleet has had such a long history or racing at the St Francis
Yacht Club. And while the fleet won't be racing in the Fall Dinghy Regatta
this year, it is hoped that the fleet can rally to come back strong for both
the Spring and Fall Dinghy Regattas in 2009.
