I have a Passat wagon and it worked okay - other than the hassle of getting it
secured and the fear that it might fly off on the freeway. It made the car seem
very small. You need a sturdy rack and long/wide bars. A trailer is way easier
(though only if you have one) - or being able to clamshell onto someone else's
boat I think would be the next best.
