    Exciting News For TISC!
This is an exciting time for TISC as we inaugurate our first-ever
experiential Science, Tech, Engineering and Math (STEM) learning program in
Fall 2013. We'll be installing a new double-wide classroom on-site on
August 20th along with many more facility changes to support this program
so stay tuned for more updates!
*We will need as many volunteers as we can to help us get this program
started, so please see our volunteer opportunities listed below and come
help out! *

Volunteer Opportunities



*Sailing Into Schools Set-Up Work Days*

Looking for ~10 volunteers each day to assist with preparing the new
classroom-trailer, putting together furniture and helping arrange the yard
to accommodate this new space. Help us get this next chapter in TISC
programming started!

*We need help on:*

*Wednesday August 21, 2pm-5pm*

*Friday August 23, 2pm-5pm*

*Saturday August 24, 10am-4pm*

*BIG Team Regatta, September 27, 7am-8pm*

 This is our largest fundraiser of the year, teaming up with Bay Area
companies to sponsor our youth and adaptive sailing programs. We'll need
volunteers throughout the day for set-up, clean-up, food service, to drive
safety boats and for other tasks.

*Food will be provided for volunteers and this year's Key Note Speaker will
be Norbert Bajurin of GGYC, home club of Oracle Team USA.*

 Important Yard Updates
 *Bridge Closure*
TIDA has confirmed that *the Bay Bridge will be closed Labor Day weekend*,
starting on the evening of Wednesday 8/28. You will need a pass to access
the island over Labor Day, which will be available in the TISC office for
pick-up starting 8/21. *You MUST come pick up your pass in order to access
the island*.

*Dragon Boat*
This year the festival will be held 9/13-9/15, with boats arriving Friday
afternoon and Races held on Saturday and Sunday. They will launch early and
should not impede use of the facility

*Oracle Appreciation Party*
The annual Oracle Employee Appreciation party will be held in the parking
lot directly in front of TISC on Wednesday 9/25 this year. Oracle will have
the full lot plus the area between the yard and Hangar 3 closed off
beginning early September. This means you will need to access the yard from
the rear gate until Oracle moves out in the first week of October.

Twenty three TISC students had front-row seats for Race 3 of the Louis
Vuitton Cup semi-finals courtesy of the America's Cup Event Authority.  Our
