I was just on the V15 National Class association website and noticed
some rules updates on http://v15.org/tech/index.html. I've pasted
below for easier reference.

Tthe biggest change from my perspective is 4.4.2, Jib Cunningham.
Really helpful to be able to lead the jib cunningham back to the
cockpit for easier adjustment. Jib cunningham is nice to have in the
toolbox to help depower if it's windy.

4.12 means you're not able to use a Velocitek Prostart. Great device,
but not class legal.

2014-2015 Vanguard 15 Class Rule Changes

4.12 Compasses
Current Rule: One compass is permitted on the boat. –Digital compasses
shall be permitted.
New Rule: One compass is permitted on the boat. –Digital compasses
shall be permitted but may only display compass heading and time to
start.
Purpose: With the influx of devices that can display distance to line,
headers/lifts, and boatspeed; make it clear that information is
prohibited but those devices may be used so long as that information
is not displayed or is disabled.

4.4.2 Cunningham
Current Rule: No current rule on Jib Cunningham.
New Rule: An adjustable Jib Cunningham may be added and lead back to
the cockpit. It may have any number of purchases but no blocks or
other hardware may be added.
Purpose: Jib Cunninghams have been widely used throughout the class
for at least the last decade. They are cheap, easy to rig, and can
make older sails more competitive by adding this extra layer of
adjustment. Commonly these are lead back to the starboard shroud base
or the mast step.

4.8 Sheets and Lines
Current Rule: Not applicable
New Rule: Add at end of current rule- Tapered jib sheets are
permitted. Purpose: Current rule is unclear. People have been using
tapered sheets for many years. They are relatively cheap and make it
much easier for smaller crews to adjust.

4.9 Fittings and Shackles
Current Rule: Not applicable
New Rule: -The jib halyard block may be replaced with any type of
single wheeled blocked and rigged with any number of purchases
provided no additional hardware is used.
Purpose: Make jib halyard easier to adjust. Make it possible to
substitute a becket block on the jib halyard so it can easily be
rigged with more purchase.

Approved February 2015 by the technical committee
