Welcome to the *1st Edition* of the Treasure Island Sailing Center's
Newsletter:  *"Points of Sail."  *Here you will find highlights of our
current programs, staff, events, and activities.
It's Because of You!

Since 1999,TISC has served over *15,000 *youth and adults as a non-profit
business and a US Sailing Certified Community Sailing Center.  This year
almost *90%* of our Youth will have received a scholarship!

 We take pride in the quality of our professionally staffed educational
programs and our generous youth scholarship
opportunities. We have over 100 watercraft in our fleet! TISC is open to
the public and ALL are invited to learn to sail and explore the water
safely.

TISC teaches life skills and respect for the environment through sailing.
We provide facilities, boats, and sailing instruction for children and
adults of all ages, skill levels, physical and mental abilities,
ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds.  TISC students participate in
positive, skill building experiences learning water safety, responsibility,
respect, communication, teamwork, leadership, and appreciation for their
environment.  TISC is a large scale, multiuser year round sailing school on
San Francisco Bay operated by dedicated staff and volunteers, emphasizing
full community involvement by offering access to all, regardless of
financial need..

Offered in partnership with the Bay Area Association of Disabled Sailors
(BAADS) and KEEN, this summer camp takes place at the BAADS facility on
Pier 40 on the San Francisco waterfront. Students with disabilities can
learn sailing with a friend in a small, stable and safe boat in the
protected waters of McCovey Cove. Students sail in pairs to build teamwork,
communication, and sailing skills,

SSL, our newest and largest program has enormous reach!  Bringing over 600
San Francisco public school 4th graders to Clipper Cove each semester,
TISC, in partnership with the St. Francis Sailing Foundation continues
delight teachers and parents while engaging kids in this STEM based
experiential field trip.

Zoe Wadkins - Program Manager

With over ten years of experience collaborating with youth, Zoe comes to
TISC with a strong background facilitating youth leadership, curriculum
development, conflict resolution and community organizing.

Working with a diverse group of individuals in a variety of situations, Zoe
has facilitated after-school programs, summer camps, and classroom
experiences all across the world.

She is excited to blend her passion for sailing and the outdoors while
contributing toward the enrichment of youth's lives in the Bay Area. As
first hand witness to the confidence and self-worth that is fostered
by an appreciation
of the natural world in the youth lives she has served, Zoe is thrilled to

School's back in session, and Envision Academy Sailing Team (E*A*S*T) is
getting an early start on Fall practice. Clipper Cove hosted hundreds of
High Schoolers, coaches and parents in 2016. Chicken-in-Waffles anyone
(they're really good).
