                Pearson is a former professional yachtsman who has competed in most of 
                the world’s major ocean races, including the Whitbread Around the World 
                Race, and a number of sailing expeditions to remote parts of the world. 
                He has worked with North Sails for 23 years in different capacities 
                internationally. As Technical Director, he is responsible for technology 
                and global materials development.</p>
                <p dir="LTR" align="JUSTIFY">Bill has overseen the development of the 
                one piece molded sails technology (3DL), and is at the forefront of the 
                intersection between textiles, composites, and fibrous systems for 
                performance applications. With North Sails, Bill is a leader in the 
                emerging field of the seamless integration of hard and soft structures, 
                and has a keen interest in pursuing cross-platform applications. Bill 
                writes frequently for various sailing publications on technology and 
                composites, most recently a six part series in Seahorse International 
                Sailing.<img src="http://qstc.net/images/bill.jpg" style="margin-left:5" align="right" border="0" height="150" width="107"></p>
                <p dir="LTR" align="JUSTIFY">Bill is also a frequent IYC crewperson, and 
                has spearheaded North Sail’s efforts to bring 3DL technology to the 
                Inverness 110 fleet. Recently a couple of 110ers bought North 3DL sails 
                and brought them to the 110 Nationals in Marblehead Massachusetts.</p>
                <p dir="LTR" align="JUSTIFY">Come hear Bill explain how sails have 
                progressed from woven fabrics to one piece molded composite membranes, 
                as well as the migration of new technology to spars, boat hulls, Formula 
                One race cars, and aerospace. This should be a fascinating and 
                informative evening. </p>
