<p><br>We've just learned that the Office of the Mayor will try to
push the marina project through this coming Wednesday by packaging it
with a separate project - a long-term lease for the Treasure Island
Sailing Center.</p>
<p>This move comes despite the failure of the developers to live up to
the terms of the stakeholder agreement reached last year.</p>
<p>Friends of the Sailing Center, US Sailing, BayKeeper and the Sierra
Club have all spoken out to oppose this move. </p>
<p>Please take a moment to email the Supervisors voting on Wednesday
and urge them to vote NO on the marina lease and vote yes on the

<p>Supervisor Matt Haney who represents District Six, which includes
Clipper Cove, won't be voting in this Committee hearing on Wednesday,
but his support his crucial. You can email him at <a href="mailto:matt.haney@sfgov.org" target="_blank">matt.haney@sfgov.org</a></p>
<p>Under the Mayor's current proposal there is no plan to mitigate the
risk of the Cove filling-in due to sedimentation generated by the new
marina and the new entrance channel (a problem frequently experienced
in other marina projects). There is no analysis calculating the
financial risk for the City. And there is no consideration for current
berth holders with small and medium sized boats. </p>
<p>In addition, the developers continue to insist that the
environmental analysis of the threat to the sea grass beds (new
sedimentation and maintenance dredging) be conducted in the BCDC
permit process <u>after</u> the City signs a 66-year lease.</p>
<p>The public is already sacrificing part of Clipper Cove for a
private luxury marina. In return the developers should meet all of the
requirements in the stakeholder agreement, in full.</p>
<p>Victories often need to be defended lest we lose our progress.
This is one of those moments.</p>
