I have just one genoa but, if you can't come up with one, we could agree
as a fleet to race with three sails rather than four, as has been done
on at least one occasion before to my knowledge. To not use the genoa
alone in light air but, still use the spinnaker, is a much smaller
concession in my view.

Actually the boat came with a spinnaker and pole; I appreciate the offer
but have been meaning to rig all the stuff anyway so if we're using
spinnakers it'll be a good excuse to finally tackle all that.
What I don't have is a genoa. If the consensus is to use them and
Michael if you or anyone else has a reasonably priced used one for sale
I'd be interested in talking.
Mike

Two of three boats that responded to that question indicated they
preferred to sail with spinnaker. I don't count myself among the three
boats that commented; I am willing to go either way but would also
prefer to sail with the big jib and spinnaker given the propensity for
light air during the winter and, enjoying the practice with the
spinnaker during the relatively benign conditions with friends new to
the boat and the sail.
If you need help securing a spinnaker, I have one spare and all needed
running rigging that I could loan for the series; I don't have a second
spinnaker pole, however.
What do you think?

Pariah can't make it anyway. Not fuel spill related.
I don't believe we ever resolved whether this series was spin or
non-spin?

I have spoken with Tony Schaefer, the Commodore of Encinal Yacht Club
concerning whether the Jack Frost races will be run tomorrow or not.
Tony tells me that Encinal's Race Committee has been in touch with the
Coast Guard over the last two days and that there are no restrictions
for racing in the area the Jack Frost will be run tomorrow. Encinal
intends to run the races as scheduled. Something to this effect is to
be posted on the Club's web-site shortly, I am told.
However, he has said that any fleet that chooses, as a group, not to
race will be accommodated and tomorrows races not counted towards the
series for that fleet.
Pariah, Dominatrix, Auggie, Meliki, Betty Boop and any other late
registrants(?), I plan to sail unless the majority of you choose not to.
Can you let me know your thoughts so that I can relay them to the R.C.?
In the, "for whatever it's worth" column, I suspect I sailed through far
more fuel / oil in the Santa Barbara Channel this past summer that we
will see on the Bay tomorrow.
Thank you,
Michael Andrews

Any idea how much oil we might encounter when racing the Jack Frost
tomorrow?
