Greetings Tuna racers -
I want to update you on the current state of racing in the SF Bay. As some of you may know, short-handed racing is becoming king in 2020 and some Beer Cans have started up again as well as SSS racing.
The YRA has decided to proceed with race #5, hosted by Richmond Yacht Club on August 29, albeit in a modified form. Again, short-handed racing being the buzzword, with the race allowing single and social bubble doublehanded entries. This race was slated as part of our season.
I know many of you are tight with your full teams of three and four crew, but I was curious about the interest in racing as a fleet doublehanded in this race and maybe trying to carve out some sort of an adjusted season on that basis. Thoughts from the fleet? Loyalty to my crew uber all! OR Hell yeah, I'll sell out my LCD crew member for some racing! Of course there are bunches of options in between, like,"one of my usual crew is quarantined in Alaska anyway", or "one of my crew is prized medical personnel working 24/7 saving bunches of lives these days", "I popped my social bubble," "I never had a social bubble," but you get the idea.
In addition to the morphed YRA #5, YRA has noticed the Encinal Regatta for 9/12/2020, the original date of YRA #6, which was also part of our intended white sails series. This race is essentially a morphed "Second-Half Opener," again with short-handing. Are folks are interested in this race as a fleet?
Thanks and I hope you all are doing ok, and you and your loved ones are healthy and safe.
