I do not have these. Somebody did a killer job fairing my keel into the hull at some point. So, they can be eliminated. I have no idea what type of layup was done unfortunately. I have seen this on many other boats though.

for being a little concerned, but this crack is truly a harmless cosmetic
crack that is very common with the type of keel installation used on the
Santana 22. This method of construction is also used on Star boats and Cal
20s. It is not uncommon.</span></font></p>
<p><font color="navy" face="Arial" size="2"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: navy; font-family: Arial;"></span></font> </p>
<p><font color="navy" face="Arial" size="2"><span style="font-size: 10pt; color: navy; font-family: Arial;">The keel has a
rectangular plate on the top that is placed into a rectangular hollow in
the bottom of the boat. (Sort of like the T-shaped drawing below.) The
hollow in the bottom of the boat is slightly larger than the rectangular
plate, so we fill the void with putty. The slightest keel movement, while
being trailered or while sailing, causes the rigid putty to crack. You can
fair and putty the crack to make it look better, but doing so won't make
any real difference in the speed potential of the boat, or in the
structural integrity. The crack will eventually reappear. The putty is
only filler – it has nothing to do with attaching the keel to the
hull.</span></font></p>
