These will show you the differences between the newer S22's and the classic ones. Notice the rub rail is gone, the metal window frames are not there, the teak cockpit wood is gone and the outer winch bases are not there. Also the hatch cover and fiberglass bridge are totally different. The outer track for the genoa is not mounted on the rub rail. (We added SS winch mounts and tracks to race PHRF). One of the photos shows the location of the serial number stamped on the transom. The older boats did not have this stamped ID. </div><div><br></div><div>Looking at the photo you supplied you have one of the older boats however not one of the oldest sail numbers. The fiberglass base for the outer winches is flat on top and longer. I believe this was changed at hull number 100 or so. I used to co-own hull number 54 that had the older 2 step winch base.</div><div><br></div><div>My guess is the previous owners bought or were given the sails from hull 802. Note they are Pineapple Sails from Alameda, CA. WD Shock supplied Pineapple sails with the newer S22's. I still have the original set of sails for #817 but they are pretty shot.</div><div><br></div><div>BTW- Is that a splice in the mast above the spreaders at the "S" on the mainsail ? I zoomed in on the photo but can"t figure out what is on the mast. I wondered if any of you might be able to help me with a hull number question. My boat was stripped of any identifying information when I bought it. No hull number, no name. Just the W.D. Shock plaque in the cabin. I think it was stripped to paint it. Brand new paint top and bottom when I bought her. Anyway, the other day, I was looking at a picture of my boat and was reminded that my main has the S on it and the number 802. This sail was very new when I bought the boat. I wonder if one of the previous owners had this sail made for this boat back when it still had a hull number on it? It has what I think are reefing points, which I have come to understand are unusual for a tuna sail? </div>
<div><br></div><div>In case any of you from CA are wondering how the hell I registered a boat with so little information. Well, licensing laws for sailboats here in Utah are a lot less strict than a lot of other places. Good for me I guess. </div>
