Subject: Last Call: TI Random Pairs Team Race, September 8
Last call! See NOR below.
Sign up for next Saturday's Random Pairs Team Race at TI. I think that we
have 10 boats signed up so far. Let's shoot for 15. This will be a casual
day of team racing and socializing. Undoubtedly a fun day for team racers of
all levels and you don't need a team to participate.
If you are planning on sailing and aren't on the list below, please let me
know. Also, if you aren't interested in sailing, but might want to come down
and help run the event, get in touch with me.
For those of you sailing, spread the word, and let's get a few more boats
out this weekend.

Notice of Race:
1st Annual TI Random Pairs Team Race

Report Time: 11:00 am
First Race: 12:00 am (sharp)
It was recently suggested that having a random pairs team race at TI
would be a great way to get a lot of people team racing in a unique and
low-key format (thanks for the great idea Archie).
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the format, random pairs team
racing is 2 vs. 2 team racing in which each boat is paired with a different
teammate and opponent for each race. After a number of rotations, boats will
be ranked according to winning percentage and top placers will advance to a
short Championship Round to determine a victor.
This is a great opportunity for experienced team racers looking to get
some boat-handling and boat-on-boat practice, as well as for people who
don't have a steady 3-boat team or are somewhat new to team racing
altogether. This will be a fun, casual day of racing on the cove with BBQ
and beverages to follow.
It is anticipated that a very modest entry fee will be required to
offset costs of food/beverage, etc (more details to follow).
It would be great to get a good turnout for what should be a very fun
day of sailing. Please signup on the V15 website if you will be
participating: http://vanguard15.org/schedule/437
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with me.
See you on the water,
Matt Hooks
