Hi Gang,
It was great to see old and new faces alike last night, I'm looking forward
to a great season! As we mentioned, Treasure Island really needs volunteers
URGENTLY this weekend, and over the course of the next two weeks due to
Chris's unexpected absence. Please sign up! It will be a lot of fun sailing
with all these different groups. A definitely mark the 26th on your
calendars for opening day. This is the day that they need the MOST help and
it is also the mostest funest. So go.
Contact me or TI directly with any dates that you can help out.
Thanks and Fair Winds :)
*Saturday 4/12- 9:30 am-3:00 pm*
J24 driver for our Blind Sailing program. This is a really fun way to give
back to the visually impaired community and these sailors are awesome to
work with
*Next week*:
*Wednesday 4/16 and Thursday 4/17- 9:00 am-2:00 pm*
We need help with our Set Sail Learn experiential education program. This
week we're teaching Ecology of the Bay with a focus on Dungeness Crabs.
Keep in mind, this is being taught to 4th graders so no expertise is
needed, just an ability to engage groups of 5-10 kids at a time. We're
asking for 2 volunteers each day to help with different tasks for this
program.
- We need 1 volunteer to drive an RS venture with 4th graders from SFUSD.
Essentially they will be pointing out ecological aspects of the bay
- We also need an on-shore volunteer to assist with the classroom education
portion. The curriculum is 'Ecology of the Bay' and we can provide all
materials needed prior to the class for the person to review. This would be
a good opportunity for someone who has experience as a summer camp
counselor, tutor or teacher.
*The week after:*
*Tuesday 4/22 and Thursday 4/24- 9:00 am-2:00 pm*

*Thursday 4/24- Before Racing:*
Opening Day Tent Set Up! This should only take 30-45 minutes before racing.
If people could come a little earlier than normal, maybe like 5 pm, then I
think we can get it up without it conflicting with race set-up
