V15 volunteering

Hello fleet!
As you know, it's our responsibility and privilege to volunteer for TISC.
It's a requirement for everyone in our fleet--and what better way to
contribute to the sailing community, helping a generation of young city
kids learn to sail?

Below are a number of volunteer opportunities. Experienced sailors will
enjoy taking a group of blind sailors out on a Saturday. Social mavens and
sailing coach types might prefer helping out with opening day celebrations,
where people of all abilities come to dip their toes in the water. And
supervising the beer tent for the triathlon is never a bad thing,
especially if you like beer. The right opportunity is out there for you.

Volunteer Hours *
* "Make a difference in your Community" *
  At Treasure Island Sailing Center (TISC) it is our mission to create
opportunities for our community to learn and grow through sailing. One
instrumental piece of our programming is our ability to offer scholarships
to nearly 80% of our youth participants. To do this, we need your help.

By dedicating your time to one of the many upcoming events at TISC, you
will help us to provide high quality and affordable programming to our
community.

As a tenant of TISC we ask you to complete 12 hours/year of volunteer
service. If you are unable to meet these volunteer requirements you will be
billed an additional $10/month. However, we would much rather have you
volunteer at one of our upcoming events.

Below is a list of some of the upcoming TISC events that need volunteers:

*Opening Day*
*Saturday, April 25, 2015 *
*(sign up by 4/22)*
Opening Day is a great opportunity to take care of your tenant volunteer
hours and have some fun on the water. At Opening Day we provide the
community with FREE sailboat rides and the use of our stand-up paddle
boards and kayaks. There will also be games, face painting, crafts,
concessions, and music to enjoy.



*Volunteer Shifts: *

*Choice of morning, afternoon or full day.*

*AM Shift    9:00 am - 1:30 pm *

*PM Shift     1:30 am - 6:00 pm *


 *Visually Impaired Sailing*
*May 9, June 13, July 25 and August 22,  2015*
*(sign up by 4/25, 5/30, 7/11, 8/8)*
Visually Impaired Sailing is a monthly event hosted at TISC in coordination
with the Marin Sailing School Program for the blind. TISC is seeking
experienced sailors to participate in these events either as instructors or
as crew members on J24s.

 *Volunteer Shifts: *

*These are all day events hosted by TISC from 10 - 3. Volunteers are asked
to be at TISC from 9:30 - 3:30 on the day of the event. *




*Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon*
*June 6 & 7, 2015*
*(sign up by 5/23)*
 For the Escape Alcatraz Triathlon we will be running the concessions of
water and beer/wine for the event. All proceeds from concessions will go
towards the TISC scholarship fund.

 *Volunteer Shifts: *

*Choice of Saturday or Sunday.*

*Choice of morning, afternoon or full day.*

*AM Shift    10:00 am - 2:00 pm *

*PM Shift     2:00 am - 6:00 pm *
