Jean and other Tunas,
I think I'll let sleeping dogs (and keels) lie. When I think of heavy metal, bands with painted faces smashing their guitars come to
mind instead of cast iron mired in a mud pit -- or is it a mosh
pit? Maybe those new dollar coins to pull our pants down low enough to match a junior high schoolers latest pants? Coins clinking into one armed bandits at casinos in Reno?
But I do want to think about several upcoming events that Tunas should be interested in.
The first is the OYC Rite of Spring ( Saturday, March 17). They've added a Women's Division to the mix. It's not listed on the Entry Form, but you can add it to the "Check Three to Describe Your Entry"
box. If they get 3 Women's Entries, they will create a Division.
This is part of Women's Race Series (see Page 30 in the "2007 Northern California Sailing Calendar and YRA Master Schedule"
available at yacht clubs, chandlerys, and other nautical places).
The second is the IYC Doublehanded LightShip Race on Saturday, March 24. It's a 22-mile round trip out around the Light Bucket. Start/ Finish at the GGYC. It's a great introduction to Ocean Racing. NOR/ Entry Forms (including minimum equipment requirements) at on the IYC Website <iyc.org>
