I've been in touch with Leah and she's been super helpful. I'm planning on taking a look this weekend to see how it's done.

Jeff,

The best thing is to talk with the Santa Cruz YC folks who own Tunas. They've been doing it for decades, so should have the info.

I'll forward your email to Leah Pepe, who's keeping a boat on a trailer down there -- but it has a tabernacle, so could go under the bridge. Since it's sitting down there you could take a look at how that one's rigged. Speaking of that, there are several Santanas in the upper harbor, so a walk for look-see might show you how.

I'm actually looking for a setup that will allow me to lower the mast to get under a bridge while underway. The mast would need to be lowered at least twice every time we leave the slip (once going out and once coming in). Since posting my original message I've received a number of helpful replies from people in the same situation with offers to look at their setups for getting under the bridge at the Santa Cruz harbor.

I take down my mast every alternate year to bring the boat home and winter her in our shop and work on her through the winter. We always step down the mast toward the aft.
