Hey there Tuners!
Next weekend we have two days of racing - white sails on CityFront on
Saturday, then a spinnaker pursuit race as part of this Sarcoma Cup
(organized by Mark Lowry, who sailed his Tuna Soliton to our YRA
championship for many years before deciding he wasn't spending enough money
on sails etc. and buying an Express 27).
I have been overwhelmed by life events so have not been publicizing this as
much as I should have, but I'm planning on being there! (For those of you
who heard about them, my dad is doing better.) And RYC knows how to throw a
party on the "Richmond Riviera", we're welcome to come raft up with the
throngs on Saturday after doing CityFront and join it. Hey, it's all
downwind from GGYC, right?
Entry fee is only $1.25 per foot, so supposedly 27.50 per Tuna (for some
reason they thought my boat was only 21 feet long and charged me 26.25); and
that includes a bunch of swag, free beer (both days) and free massage!!! (on
Saturday), a rummage sale... Sorta a precurser to the famous Great Pumpkin
Regatta which is always a class favorite.
So come join us! See

Subject: Sarcoma Cup Aug. 22-23, 2009
Dear fellow RYC Members,
The Club is getting ready to host the second annual Sarcoma Cup, in
partnership with BeatSarcoma and a host of sponsors.
This is not your traditional fundraiser. There is no minimum contribution,
there is no high prices - in fact a lot of what is on offer is FREE! - it
works by making sure that its participants are having a great time. This
Club was built for fun, and that is what the Sarcoma Cup is about: a fun
weekend of sailing, packed with great entertainment and high value sponsored
prizes. It will also bring hope to sarcoma patients; 100% of the proceeds
from the event will support a sarcoma research institution. Sarcoma is a
deadly form of cancer that affects primarily children, teenagers and young
adults and that receives a disproportionately small amount of cancer
research funding.
And you do not have to race to take part in it.
For boaters (racers or not!): for $1.25/ft, enjoy:
-OD, PHRF and relaxed cruising division (if you don't have a PHRF
certificate, we can make this work, please contact us) - non regular racers
are welcome!
-If you get 5 similar boats on the line, you get your own start -Skipper's
packets include a 20% off coupon for sail service from North Sails and many
other goodies -Free gourmet coffee and free pastries on Saturday -Winner of
the cup gets free haul out, loads of other cool awards: list of awards:

**** REMEMBER TO REGISTER BEFORE 8/17 TO AVOID THE LATE FEE For everyone:
-Raffle and silent auction - pretty cool items and prizes including a
Zeppelin flight over the Bay, a flight for 3 in a personal airplane : full
