Howdy Sarcoma Cup Sailors—
This is your (un)official, gold-plated, VIP, advance invitation to participate
in the 2012 Sarcoma Cup. This is our 5th year for this great regatta, so
congratulate yourselves for making this series a success!
We are now beginning our top-secret, exhaustive, planning process. As many of
you will recall from past events our philosophy for this event is relatively
simple. We provide:
1. Excellent racing.
2. Unique and high-quality off-the-water extra-curricular activities
The racing will Including multiple photographers working hard to capture your
boat at it best (well OK, yeah, they have also occasionally captured some of
that kite shrimping and crashing… but, you looked good doing it anyway). We
work hard to give you square-lines, true courses, and generally fair racing.
Some of the off-the-water activities have become legend. I have the
photographic evidence to prove it*. These antics have been fueled by good food,
good wine, good music, massage therapy, and in some cases emotional therapy and
lots of other good stuff.
We believe that if we deliver the above, you and our sponsors will be generous
in supporting our cause of finding a cure for Sarcoma, a deadly form of cancer
that does not receive adequate attention.
So, please spread the word that the 2012 Sarcoma Cup is on. I think this year’s
event could out-do past events. Why? In this pre-A-Cup year, Nat has been
especially secretive in her planning. She has even denied me access to these
sessions… I guess she knows I can’t keep a secret L. All I can tell you is
that she seems to be hanging out with a lot of high-performance catamaran
sailors lately…. Very suspicious behavior.
If you are not your fleet captain/representative, please forward this email to
them. Feel free to forward to your yacht club and anyone else who has an
interest in participating in a quality regatta.
If you have questions about this year’s event, please send emails to Nathalie
Criou, cc’d here for your convenience. I may be out of email contact for
extended periods this year and Nathalie will be your most responsive contact….
Perhaps you then let me know what she’s up to. Also, please reply to Nat with
regard to your fleet’s plans to participate and what you anticipate for likely
numbers of participants…..
Cheers,
Mark Lowry, Express 27 "Xena", Sarcoma Cup Regatta Co-Chair (racing, emeritus)
on behalf of….
Nathalie Criu, Sarcoma Cup Regatta Chair
Allison Lehman, Sarcoma Cup Regatt Co-chair
*It is true that I received repeated requests for the negatives in some cases,
but I’m sorry they will have remain in the Sarcoma Cup archives… they may come
in handy some day
