Hello SF Tuna fans,
Just want to recap tonight's meeting for you and also get some e-mail input.
1- Santa Cruz is actively planning to host Nationals the weekend of July 23, 24, 25. The county is in good shape and unless something drastic happens, they are hopeful that restrictions will allow for the activities. Please reply by Monday noon (April 5) to let me know if you are considering taking your boat on the road to participate, or if you are willing to participate if you can get a boat or a trailer. This doesn't have to be a firm commitment, but SCYC wants to know if they hold it, will the people come...
Thanks!
2- We discussed counting the following races as our series this year, will folks participate? Any major issues we didn't see? Any better suggestions? Let me know by Wed. next week. Folks are registering for the Wheeler regatta as the first race which takes place next Saturday, April 10. This is the proposed first counter race and we'd love to know if we can get five boats and a start.
The next proposed counter races include:
05/08/21 – Summer Series #2, City Front06/19/21 – Summer Series #3, Southampton Nationals will be 7/23 - 7/25 (we did not discuss throw outs or how/if we will count Nationals, but we'd love the SF fleet to seriously consider participating)
Possibly the YRA Encinal Race on 7/31/2021.
We'll request to participate in St. Francis' Joe Logan regatta as an OD fleet on Sept. 25, 2021
And
The Great Pumpkin fleet race on Oct. 30.
Let us know your thoughts, concerns, as stated.
3- We are proposing another cruise-in event for late August/early September, likely to Ayala Cove, as a central location.
4- Can Steve, who offered to help with the web site contact me to see if we can get 2021 updates posted on our .org page?
5 - We'd like to hold some sort of awards party or dinner in Nov./beginning of Dec. or if we decide we will all be too busy then beginning of January (date to be determined in September).
6 - Dues will remain $40.00 and if you are competing for the series or in Nationals, you must pay dues to "Santana 22 Fleet 1" and you can mail a check to PO Box 752, San Ramon, CA 94583. We are working on updating the old paypal link, but checks will be accepted until that is worked out. Fleet 1 currently has around $1200.00.
7- IYC is still hosting Friday night racing in the Estuary and an informal Tuna Tuesday, RYC hosts Wed night beer cans, join in with your Tuna where you can.
8 - We all agree that our fleet is still quite precious so take every opportunity you can to participate in our events and encourage any tuna owners you come across to also participate and try racing if they haven't. We love these silly old boats, and we want to keep them relevant on the SF and Monterey Bays, so be the advocate for the fleet that you want to see!
Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you on the season and Nationals.
Regards,
Kristen
